About the Alliance Française

Since 1984, the Alliance Française of New Orleans has been the leading center for French language education and Francophone culture in the region. As part of a dynamic global network, we are proud to represent the most French city in America within the largest cultural organization of its kind in the world. With over 800 Alliances Françaises across five continents — and more than 100 chapters in the U.S. alone — we’re part of a vibrant, interconnected community united by a shared passion: promoting the French language and celebrating cultural diversity. Locally, we are a nonprofit governed by a dedicated board and supported by passionate educators, volunteers, and members. From beginners to native speakers, we offer immersive classes, unique cultural events, and a welcoming space for all who love French — right here in the heart of New Orleans.
